Jogger friends, you know that monotony is the enemy of motivation, whether you’re a marathon runner or a Sunday racer. If Montreal has a whole lot of well known running courses, Lachine Canal certainly deserves the title of the most diversified running course in town. You doubt it? Here’s proof in 15 serious-not-so-serious points. Humor is advised.
Montreal’s summer is known worldwide as the season where city dwellers get a bit wild. With a winter season of almost six months long, it’s actually quite understandable. Add this to numerous heat waves raging the midst of the season and you can understand why residents need to freshen up. Among various events taking place when degrees crank up, Montrealers can enjoy a wide selection of activities for their entertainment. One of their favourite: the proverbial terrace to ease their thirst.
Every resident has their own neighbourhood gems that they love to share. Southwest is no exception. Here are a few of those marvellous places that its inhabitants and professionals appreciate when going out for a drink, whether it’s a fancy cocktail or a fine beer from a local microbrewery. Please bear with us, there’s a whole world of discoveries waiting for you in the realm of thirst quenching venues.
Burgundy Lion – 2496 Notre Dame O.
Ideal to have a pint after work, it’s a great set for adults of all ages as well. The little terrace in the backyard is exceptional to enjoy the outdoors and have a bite with friends. However, make sure to call first for a reservation. The venue is often crowded, especially during soccer matches.
Terrace St-Ambroise – 5080 St-Ambroise
Located a few steps away for the Lachine Canal, Terrace St-Ambroise is an initiative from McAuslan Brewery. You can taste their delicious beer on site while enjoying the outdoors after a day wandering around the Canal. Open 7 days a week, the venue also takes reservations from Mondays to Wednesdays. Make sure to try it, with friends and family. By the way, dogs are welcome.
La Drinkerie – 2661 Rue Notre-Dame O.
Upscale yet welcoming, La Drinkerie is known for its fine wine selection. Red, white, rosé or bubbles, you can make some pretty impressive discoveries there. You can also have a bite on the small terrace. Ideal for happy hours, there’s always a DJ playing a wide eclectic musical selection. The crowd varies from mid-twenties to mid-thirties.
Ludger – Buvette Gourmande – 4001 Notre Dame O.
Friendly, fashionable and nifty: those were the words we’ve heard when visiting the trendy Ludger – Buvette Gourmande. The place is renowned for its fancy and very creative cocktails, made by talented mixologists. There’s also a small – but delicious – selection of plates available. And for those who love to have a meal late, the kitchen is open until 11 PM on weekdays and midnight on weekends. Named after Ludger Lemieux, the architect who designed the Atwater Market and the local fire hall, the bar is yet another refreshing place: especially with its cute street terrace.
Make sure to take advantage of these venues while summer lasts. Have a happy summer outside and don’t forget: when it’s warm outside, drink a lot of water to refresh yourself… or take a dive into the Nordelec’s rooftop swimming pool!
This summer we cruised along the banks of the Lachine Canal with our Nordelec squad and met people who were enthusiastic about the neighborhood, both residents and people who came to take advantage of the nice weather along the water.
Equipped with superb Miele bicycles, shirts, bike helmets and caps adorned with the Nordelec image, our ambassadors went to meet people to give them the chance to participate in our fantastic initiative: Unlock and Roll.
End of contest: September 20th 2015 at 5:00 pm
“The response we got was amazing. Each brochure that we gave out had a different code. By visiting the Nordelec Sales Office on Saint-Patrick Street, people could enter their code to see if they have the winning combination to unlock the bike. The prize is a superb Miele bicycle from Procycle in Beauce,” explained Annie Dufresne, Sales & Marketing Director.
WINNING PEOPLE OVER
This competition and the small surprises distributed were an excellent excuse to talk with people, and everyone we met showed an amazing openness. We received very positive feedback about the neighborgood, the architecture of the Nordelec and its great features as the rooftop terrace with the pool and the amazing view on downtown Montreal.
NORDELEC: CONDOS, LOFTS AND PENTHOUSES
Once we got to the sales office, we took the opportunity to have people visit our wonderful units and to show them the current promotions, particularly the rent to own program, which appears to be very popular.
