You have been living in your beautiful condo for a little while now. You have been so caught up with moving in and making your home a home that you still haven’t met your lovely neighbours. Well, let’s rectify this unfortunate situation and let us introduce you to one of The Nordelec’s wonderful residents. On a cloudy day but not too cold (you know, those kind of days you get in October that are actually quite nice), we knocked on Alexei Prosvirin Jr’s door. As he was waiting for us, there was obviously no surprise there. But we were the ones who got a surprise. Indeed, what struck us the most was what this young and talented DJ and musician had done with the space. White naked walls like a blank music score sheltered a living room filled with resting keyboards and guitars, ready for action. Standing by the windows and looking at the view from his unit, we definitely felt the hills of Mount Royal were alive with the sound of music. His passion for music filled up the space with a calm and inspiring atmosphere.
There, he stood and talked about why he decided to take up residence at The Nordelec. Obviously, the building’s proximity with Concordia University, downtown Montreal and Old Montreal was one of the reasons but not the only one. Alexei fell in love with the history behind the Nordelec and its rich architectural heritage, all set in a vibrant but never too busy neighbourhood.
Having lived in Little Burgundy for 15 years, Alexei always loved to run along Lachine Canal and that is how he discovered The Nordelec. His love for industrial spaces guided him in choosing The Nordelec for a home and, most of all, he was conquered by all the amenities it offers such as the gym, the urban lounge and the upcoming shops in the commercial space of the building. “It’s like a mini city within one building”, Alexei said; and even more so with the Urban Lounge offering what has become his very favourite, the theatre.
“It has the biggest screen I’ve seen in my life. What I’m really impressed about his the fibre optic input at the bottom. I’ve never seen Internet so fast in my life. The Urban Lounge is very aesthetically pleasing and well organised.”
And what to say about the roof top terrace? Alexei could not hide his amazement for the view he gets from there.
In his final confession to us, Alexei revealed where we could find the best poutine in the neighbourhood: The Greenspot on Notre-Dame West. This diner might not offer fancy dishes, but he promises the poutine will not disappoint you. Now, that’s what we call a great neighbour!
